For a Teacher, Slighted in June
She remains resolute
steadfast in the face
of unsteadiness
& rebuke
when an Authorized Authoritarian
submits the dossier
the declared digital display
flaunting submission to the mission statement
& related subterfuge
in the application of bureaucratic
cosmetic
rouge.
After all,
they were being evaluated as well
in so-called assessments
summative
& even punitive,
so why not let some educators have it
especially those not beholden
to faked rapport
on their way out the secured door
into the cloudy June afternoon.
Yet the subordinate left behind
only assorted paper bindings
discarded after another purge
where she now pauses
feeling the edge of the steering wheel
dreaming & beaming
into the light traffic merge
to a life well-attended
to overlapping causes
to those she knows
who learned
a celebration
well-earned
& only slightly suspended.
